We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded £500 from the Leeds Fund for outdoor activities and resources to help grow our unit.
The microgrant of £500 was awarded to 1st Leeds Hospital Guides & Scouts earlier this month as part of the Leeds Fund, an initiative that helps companies wanting to support the city in which they live and/or work and is managed by Leeds Community Foundation.
The management committee applied for the microgrant as our first summer is fast approaching and leaders and young members alike have requested more activities and resources to use outdoors.
With these funds in place, the unit should be able to purchase tents and outdoor cooking equipment suitable for everyone at the unit to use.
Our Group Leader, Laura Stubbs, says: “We’re thrilled to have received this grant to help us buy the equipment we need to take our unit outside for more fun and adventure! We’re dependent on donations and fundraising to keep the unit going so this chunk of funding is really going to help us realise our ambitions of being an adventurous group that can do something a bit special.”
The unit have since started meeting in LGI’s Rose Garden (when the weather allows!) and hope to meet outdoors more regularly as the summer months continue.
