Meet the Leader is where you get to find out more about the regular volunteers for our unit. First we meet one of our young leaders, Gracie.
Q: How long have you been in Guiding & Scouting?
10 years – I’ve been a Rainbow, Brownie and a Guide.
Q: Why did you decide to start volunteering at Leeds Children’s Hospital Guides & Scouts?
When I turned 15 and was too old to be a Guide anymore, I wanted to give back to the Girlguiding community as it did so much for me, so I decided to volunteer at my local Rainbow group which I loved!
When I heard about the Guide and Scout unit at the LGI I knew it was something I wanted to be part of! I have spent some time in hospital myself and when I was there there was nothing like this for me to do and my time there got very boring! Girlguiding has had a massive, positive affect on my life and I do not want anyone to miss out on the opportunity.
Q: What do you do for at college?
I study Psychology, Law and History at a local sixth form college.
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not at school or at the hospital?
I enjoy rollerskating, eating out with my friends and going on random days out with my parents.
Gracie is responsible for our young leader membership and attends every week.
